In the warm up the lads didn't feel that switched on but fortunately that didn't translate into the game and we got an early score when a powerful drive by Cian was stopped just short of the line but Ebe was on hand to dive over. The second score came when Henry drove the ball up the middle, sucking in defenders so that when we moved the ball wide Liam was able to dive over in the corner. The defensive line speed, tackling and competition at the breakdown were all really good. The final try of the half came when Ebe took a quick tap but was held up just short, Ilkeston turned the ball over but then Pocock stole it back and Henry drove over the line, Will converted to make the half time score 17 - 0.

We really just asked for more of the same in the second half and to not give away penalties, did the first bit but not the second. The succession of penalties at the breakdown allowed Ilkeston to run at us, the tackling was pretty good (Ameer made one massive hit) and when we got the ball we counter-attacked really well but it made the second half much more even. From one counter attack, Huey was held up over the line. We won a penalty from the resulting scrum and Ebe was able to take the quick tap and dive over for his second of the day, Sean converted. Ilkeston then got a score when we knocked on from the kick off and then didn't get forward to hit their flanker who scored under the posts. The result was put beyond doubt though when Cian put a lot of pressure on the Ilkeston fly half from a line out, we turned the ball over and good hands saw Jevan run in the try in the far corner. The final score was a good team effort, Sean got a great pass out to Cian who fed it to Peter, Peter got dragged down just short of the line but Sam F was there to score the try, Sean converted.

Man of the match, another week with a lot of strong performances but it went to Joe K who made a lot of yards trucking it up the middle and then showed good hands when it was on to throw it wide.
