In a highly competitive cup final, NMRFC U15s won the NLD Shield against Scunthorpe RFC by 12 points to 7.

A tense first half resulted in a single score with Moderns taking the lead with a try and a conversion.

Early in the second half, Moderns lost two players to the sin bin, with 2 yellow cards within a minute of each other. In spite of some strong defence from Moderns whilst down to 13 men, Scunthorpe scored a try and a conversion to tie the scores at 7 all

For the next 15 minutes, both teams worked hard to secure another score before Moderns managed a match winning try from a ‘tap and go’.
