On Saturday 27 May, NLD Chair Mike Waplington, Honorary Secretary Bradley Magnus and Chair of NLD Disciplinary Committee, Tim Bembridge hosted the NLD Region Honda Volunteer of the Year awards at Newark RFC.

This is the second year that Honda have partnered with England Rugby to run the Honda Volunteer Recognition Programme, and the Volunteer of the Year awards have been developed to provide the local rugby community and grassroots rugby clubs, with opportunities to recognise volunteers such as yourselves who are an integral part of the game.

From the coaches to the secretaries and grounds teams, the game we love wouldn’t be the same without the volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make it happen. With over 100,000 volunteers across the country who give back to rugby, week in, week out, the Honda Volunteer Recognition Programme provides an opportunity to say thank you.
Unsung Hero which recognises those have gone above and beyond to provide positive experiences, enhance member enjoyment & ensure their club is fit for the future
Game for All to celebrate those who have provided an inspiring offer to engage with their local community, making the game even more accessible & providing a welcoming environment for all
• And Challenging Spirit to recognise volunteers who have implemented new ideas to help re-build after the pandemic whether engaging & retaining players or increasing the number of games played.
