Jo Batten joins Marie Chaston to coach and manage our new section

Nottingham Moderns' Junior section are pleased to announce the launch of our Girls section, with training every Sunday from 12 noon.

To support this fantastic development at our club, Jo Batten has joined Marie Chaston, one of our existing coaches, to coach our girls section.

Jo started playing rugby at the age of 7, playing touch rugby for her local club. As the only girl in the team, she played as part of a mixed team until she was 12 when, unfortunately, she had to stop playing as her club wasn't able to offer a girls section. This resulted in a gap in her rugby until she went to university. During this gap in her rugby, Jo enjoyed a variety of other sports, including football, hockey and tennis and continues to play hockey at West Bridgford Hockey Club. Now a primary school teacher, Jo is joining NMRFC's Junior section to coach our girls section and ensure that girls coming through the club don't have to stop playing rugby at 12 when rugby splits into girls and boys sections.

If you are interested in giving rugby a try, we are holding a girls' open day on Sunday 10 Sept starting at midday - no experience is required and girls of all ages are welcome (with girls from years 7 and 8 particularly welcome)

We look forward to welcoming new girls to our club and to the sport of rugby
